From player to coach, Meghan Macaluso has come full circle at Hanover Park High School. Now in her second season as an assistant to longtime head coach Doug Wear, the former Hornet standout continues to make an impact on and off the court.
Coach Wear, now in his 21st season, praises Macaluso’s basketball IQ, energy, and connection with players. A dominant rebounder during her playing days, Meghan brings that same grit, leadership, and passion back to the program.
With deep roots at HP and a shared commitment to growth, accountability, and resilience, this duo represents the best of Hornet basketball, past, present, and future. 🐝🏀

Our HP Family continues to lead by example, serving as role models for the next generation of Hornets. Through the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy book donation, students shared books and helped younger learners explore and learn about several animals. It was a fun, engaging, and educational day enjoyed by all, and a great reminder of the positive impact our students have on others.

Second grader Christopher N. has been cheering for the Hornets all season long, from heat to cold, home and away, memorizing every player’s name and number, and proudly keeping his Hornets Football ad book by his bedside.
The Hornets gave back in a BIG way. Led by Coach Nick Liberato, about 30 players surprised Christopher at his aunt’s house with a signed football, a vintage Hornets jersey, a special lanyard, and the chance to lead the iconic “HORNETS” cheer. 🐝✨
“It’s so amazing to see the impact our football family has made past the gridiron,” said Coach Liberato. “Christopher is one of us!”
A true reminder that Hanover Park Football isn’t just about wins, it’s about family, community, and making a difference.

Amazing job, ladies, on and off the field! 🐝💛

The Spanish Club and our AP Spanish classes created a beautiful ofrenda in honor of Día de los Muertos!
Traditionally celebrated on November 1st and 2nd, this holiday honors loved ones who have passed and celebrates life through music, food, and vibrant altars filled with photographs and candles.
Our altar is adorned with calaveras (sugar skulls) and cempasúchiles (marigolds) to symbolize the sweetness and fragility of life, along with mariposas (butterflies) to represent the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth.

During School Violence Awareness Week, our Photography I students took on a powerful challenge: creating compelling anti-violence images using only their early camera and Photoshop skills.
With just a few weeks of experience, students thoughtfully incorporated their classmates’ hands to deliver meaningful messages of peace, unity, and support.
Their creativity, attention to detail, and willingness to take risks resulted in an outstanding collection of impactful images. We’re incredibly proud of their work and the conversations it inspires. 💛🖤
